I'm sure you've moved on since this post.

For anyone seeing this, there are two possible causes. They both have to do with using multiple disk locations (like C:\ vs D:\).

1. NVM for Windows v1 downloads to a temporary directory before extracting and moving files to permanent storage. It always does this on the C:\ drive, and Go had an incomplete file copy bug in the standard library. I rewrote the logic by hand to resolve this in v1.2.2.

2. If your drive is mapped to a remote drive, NVM4W may not have proper write privileges. This is also true if you're using a Windows Protected Directory.
