Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person or
organization obtaining a copy of this software and associated files
(the "Software") to use, modify, and incorporate the Software into
their own software, subject to the conditions below.
1. ATTRIBUTION
This license and the copyright notice above must be included in
all copies or substantial portions of the Software.
2. NO REDISTRIBUTION AS A COMPETING PRODUCT
You may not distribute the Software, or any substantial portion or
derivative of it, as a standalone library, framework, SDK, or
product, whether free or paid.
Permitted: forks for personal use, forks contributed back to this
project, and vendoring the Software inside your own application.
3. NO AI-ASSISTED RECREATION
You may not use the Software, its source code, or its tests as
input — directly or indirectly — to any automated code-generation
system (including but not limited to machine-learning models and
large language models) for the purpose of producing software
substantially similar in interface, behavior, or function to the
Software.
4. COMMERCIAL USE AND ROYALTY
This section applies to your use of the Software in any Product if
any of the following is true:
(a) the Product generates revenue, directly or indirectly;
(b) the Product is used internally by a for-profit organization to
support a revenue-generating activity.
"Product" means any software you distribute, sell, license, make
available as a service to third parties, or operate internally for
commercial purposes.
Royalty: a royalty applies to commercial use of the Software once
a Product exceeds a revenue threshold. The specific revenue
threshold and royalty rate are being calibrated and will be
finalized by the copyright holder before forbear v1.0. Royalty
terms will be communicated to commercial users at the time of
notification (see below) and will not exceed customary industry
practice for application UI frameworks.
Notification: if your Product crosses USD $100,000 in gross revenue
during any trailing 12-month period, you must contact the copyright
holder at gabriel.readme@hey.com within 30 days. No payment is due
at this stage — this notification establishes communication before the
royalty threshold is reached, allows the copyright holder to provide
any applicable support, and confirms acceptance of the license terms
in writing.
This section does not apply, and the Software remains free, when:
(i) the Product is distributed under an OSI-approved open-source
license;
(ii) the user is a natural person, or a group of natural persons,
using the Product for personal or non-commercial purposes, AND
no organization meeting criterion (b) has any ownership or
operational interest in the Product; or
(iii) the user is a non-profit organization using the Product in
furtherance of its non-profit mission.
Royalties are self-reported and paid quarterly to the copyright

5. LIMITED MAINTENANCE COMMITMENT
For users whose Product has earned qualifying revenue under §4 and
whose royalty payments are current, the copyright holder commits to:
(a) shipping bug fixes in regular releases of the Software; and
(b) issuing security patches for the major version the user has
adopted, for 18 months after that version's release.
No other warranty, support obligation, response-time guarantee, or
service-level commitment is granted, express or implied. This
commitment lapses if royalty payments are more than 60 days overdue.
6. NO WARRANTY (BEYOND §5)
Except for the limited commitment in §5, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED
"AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY,
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT
SHALL THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR
OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR
OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE
SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
